Design of novel systems based on sustainable supports and smart selective materials

CLECEM group has been focused in the development of novel porous materials from many years ago in order to offer to the Analytical Chemistry new Green Analytical methodologies in different areas such as:

  • Sample preparation (solid-phase extraction)
  • Separation (chromatography and electrophoresis)
  • Sensing (chips, lab-on-a-chip, point-of-care)

For this purpose, the group team is working with many smart selective materials in the last years thanks to their amazing features:

  • Porous organic monolithic polymers
  • Nanomaterials
  • Metal organic frameworks
  • Antibodies
  • Aptamers
  • Selective modifiers

An important issue in which the group has an important experience is in the covalent incorporation of these materials to suistanable supports and/or devices that helps to perform the selected procedures:

  • Conventional supports (cartridges, pipette tips, …)
  • Paper-based supports
  • 3D printed devices

In addition, the development of these novel systems has been applied to two important research lines:

Analysis of biomacromolecules in food and biological samples

(Including the analysis of proteins and allergenic proteins and also other important substances)

and

Determination of emerging pollutants in environmental samples

(Including the analysis of substances related with the appearence of microplastics in environmental waters)
